hundreds of men \u2013 \u2018enemy aliens\u2019 \u2013 were interned

on Torrens Island, in the Port River estuary near Adelaide. Sailors

taken off enemy ships, foreign nationals living in South Australia, 
            
15
and even some naturalised British subjects found themselves behind 
            
16
barbed wire. Wartime censorship meant people outside knew next to 
            
17
nothing about internment or life in the camp.\r\n\r\nThis dataset 
            
18
contains information about individuals that were interned on Torrens 
            
19
Island between 1914 and 1915. This information has been sourced from 
            
20
the National Archives of Australia and can be obtained viewed in the 
            
21
